Okta’s annual sales kick-off event achieves its first certification from the Events Industry Council

WASHINGTON, D.C. (11 August 2026) – The Events Industry Council (EIC) announced today that Okta’s Sales Kickoff (SKO) FY27, an annual event hosted by one of the leading independent identity providers Okta, has achieved Bronze Level Certification to EIC’s Sustainable Event Standards.

“Sustainability is an important part of how Okta drives long-term value for our business and stakeholders,” said Lola Yen, Director of Strategic Events, Okta. “Achieving EIC Sustainable Event Standards certification for SKO FY27 demonstrates our commitment to embedding environmental responsibility into our operations, including the events that bring our global sales teams together.”

The EIC Sustainable Event Standards were created through a global collaborative process with participation from subject matter experts in all sectors. They provide a framework for collaboration and a strong focus on guidance and metrics so that event professionals at all stages of their sustainability journey have support to implement and measure sustainable practices.

The standards specify performance criteria in the areas of organisational management, marketing, communications and engagement, climate action, water management, materials and circularity, supply chain management, accessibility, and social impact. To date, more than 300
professionals have participated in the review of the standards. The event organiser standard is one of several comprehensive standards for more environmentally sustainable events.

"Organisations like Okta are demonstrating how sustainability can be thoughtfully integrated into corporate events,” Amy Calvert, President and CEO, EIC. "By pursuing independent certification and implementing measurable practices, Okta is helping advance more responsible and sustainable business events throughout the industry."

SKO FY27 brought together Okta employees, partners and stakeholders in Las Vegas to strengthen collaboration and accelerate impact across the identity security and AI ecosystem. As part of its sustainability efforts, Okta implemented initiatives to help reduce the event's environmental footprint, including transportation programs, food donation and waste reduction efforts, recycling initiatives, and the use of sustainable and recyclable event materials. Independent verification for the certification was conducted by the Alliance for Audited Media.

“By achieving certification for its event, Okta is providing stakeholders with credible assurance that its event sustainability practices align with recognized industry standards," said Richard Murphy, CEO, President and Managing Director, AAM. "We congratulate Okta on this achievement."
