Workday’s Annual Customer Conference Receives Platinum-Level Certification for Environmental and Social Responsibility for Second Consecutive Year

WASHINGTON, D.C. and PLEASANTON, Calif., (3 March 2026) – The Events Industry Council (EIC), today announced that Workday Rising, Workday’s annual customer conference, has achieved the EIC’s Sustainable Events Standards’ highest possible certification for the second consecutive year.

“Earning platinum-level certification for a second year reinforces that sustainability isn’t an initiative for us—it’s integral to how we design every Workday experience,” said Erik Hansen, chief sustainability officer, Workday. “The certification reflects the work of countless teams who
ensure that every decision—from materials to partner selection to on-site operations—supports our sustainability goals.”

The EIC Sustainable Event Standards were created through a global collaborative process with participation from subject matter experts in all sectors of the business events industry. They provide a framework for collaboration and a strong focus on guidance and metrics so that event professionals at all stages of their sustainability journey have the support needed to implement and measure sustainable practices. The standards specify performance criteria in the areas of organisational management; marketing; communications and engagement; climate action; water management; materials and circularity; supply chain management; diversity, equity and inclusion; accessibility; and social impact.

“Workday Rising’s achievement demonstrates what’s possible when sustainability is embraced as a core pillar of event design,” said Amy Calvert, chief executive officer, EIC. “Their continued leadership shows that events can deliver exceptional experiences while also advancing environmental and social responsibility. We’re pleased to recognize Workday Rising with platinum-level certification once again.”

Workday Rising 2025, organized in partnership with George P. Johnson (GPJ), Sparks, Freeman, MAKR, Bellwether, Convention Management Resources (CMR), Giants Enterprises, and Moscone Center, was Workday’s biggest and boldest gathering yet, with over 30,000 inperson and digital attendees. The event achieved EIC certification after an independent audit by the Alliance for Audited Media.

“Workday Rising’s certification reflects its deep, continuing commitment to measurable sustainability,” said Rich Murphy, CEO, president and managing director, AAM. “We applaud their efforts to bring greater transparency and accountability to the events industry.”
