Events Industry Council Recognizes the 58th Annual FELABAN Assembly in Paraguay 2024 for Achieving Sustainable Event Standards Certification

Thursday, March 13, 2025

The annual event of the Latin American Banking Federation – FELABAN, in partnership with its active member, the Paraguayan Banking Association – ASOBAN, has been awarded a Bronze-level certification for its environmental and social responsibility.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (13 March 2025) The Events Industry Council (EIC) announced today that the 58th Annual FELABAN Assembly in Paraguay 2024 has achieved Bronze-level certification under the EIC Sustainable Event Standards.

“The Bronze-level certification of the 58th FELABAN Assembly Paraguay 2024 under the EIC Sustainable Event Standards underscores our unwavering commitment to environmental management and social responsibility,” said Giorgio Trettenero Castro, Secretary General of FELABAN.

The FELABAN Annual Assembly brings together international banking sector leaders and key regional influencers for educational and networking experiences. More than 1,800 attendees participated in the four-day event, which was held in Paraguay in November 2024.

The EIC Sustainable Event Standards were developed through a global collaborative process involving experts from all areas of the industry. These standards provide a framework for collaboration and focus on the necessary guidance and metrics to support event professionals—regardless of their stage in the sustainability journey—in implementing and measuring sustainable practices.

The standards outline performance criteria in key areas such as organizational management, marketing, communication and engagement, climate action, water management, materials and circularity, supply chain management, diversity, equity, and inclusion, accessibility, and social impact. To date, more than 300 professionals have contributed to the review of these standards.

“FELABAN’s achievement is a powerful example of how organizations can integrate sustainability into their events in a meaningful and measurable way,” said Amy Calvert, CEO of the Events Industry Council. “By attaining EIC Sustainable Event Standards certification, FELABAN demonstrates leadership in environmental and social responsibility, setting a benchmark for others in the industry. We congratulate their commitment to sustainable practices and their dedication to creating a lasting positive impact.”

The Alliance for Audited Media, a nonprofit organization dedicated to auditing, conducted the independent third-party certification, verifying that the 58th FELABAN Assembly Paraguay 2024 met the Event Organizer Standard requirements.

“Certifying FELABAN 2024 at the Bronze level highlights its ongoing commitment to transparency and sustainable event practices,” said Richard Murphy, CEO, President, and General Manager of the Alliance for Audited Media. “We congratulate the FELABAN team on this achievement.”
