AAM Welcomes New Directors Representing Agencies and U.S. Magazines
At its January meeting, the AAM board of directors welcomed three new members from Zenithmedia, Meredith and Condé Nast.
Karen Finelli, Senior Vice President Digital & Magazine Activations, Zenithmedia
Karen Finelli is welcomed to the AAM board of directors representing U.S. advertising agencies. At Zenith, Finelli oversees a variety of integrated magazine and digital planning/buying teams including Kering, COTY, Verizon, Swarovski, Delta, Nestlé, Astra Zeneca and Hudson Bay Company. She works closely with these teams to develop partnership agreements with key magazine associates in the U.S. Finelli also serves as head of Zenith’s Publishing Center of Excellence.
Finelli was an instrumental player in Zenith's move towards an integrated digital and magazine buying team. Since its integration in 2010, Finelli and her teams have received multiple Zenith ROI Excellence awards for cross-platform integrations. She is the recipient of min's 2010 and 2013 Sweet 16 award for integrated marketing and was recognized by Advertising Women of New York as a 2011 Working Mother of the Year.
Finelli also serves as an agency liaison for 4A’s Next Generation Publishing Committee, MPA Buyers Committee and the New York Ad Club.
Doug Olson, President, Meredith Magazines & GM, National Media Group
Doug Olson represents U.S. magazines on the AAM board of directors. At Meredith, Olson holds overall responsibility for all of Meredith’s national media brands and oversees Meredith’s National Media Group’s operations including finance, information technology, production, newsstand and strategic sourcing departments.
Prior to joining Meredith, Olson was vice president and general manager for ADP’s national account services outsourcing and technology operation. During his career, he has held various senior leadership positions that included responsibility for technology integration, strategic planning and overall service delivery.
Olson currently serves on the board of directors for Junior Achievement, USA and the Science Center of Iowa and is an Honorary Trustee for the Des Moines Performing Arts.
Monica Ray, Executive Vice President, Consumer Marketing, Condé Nast
Monica Ray also joins the AAM board representing U.S. magazines. At Condé Nast, Ray oversees all consumer revenue and marketing activities for Condé Nast’s portfolio of media brands, including Vanity Fair, The New Yorker and Vogue. With a background in direct-to-consumer marketing, Ray has used data, segmentation and creative messaging to double digital channel subscription volumes in three years. In addition, she led a business transformation for The New Yorker, building it into a highly successful consumer product with a paid digital content subscription model, leading to a more than two-fold increase in consumer revenue.
Ray is also a board member of the DMA (Data and Marketing Association) and Next Issue Media (Texture), the digital content venture formed by Condé Nast, Hearst, Meredith, Rogers Media, and Time Inc. She is a former board member of MPA – The Association of Magazine Media.
